Excellent product when used correctly.,
I made sure the surface was clean (doesn’t need to be as clean as the other mount) and held the phone on the bracket until I was happy with its location. I have it on the inside of a TPU case but another is on its way to mount the disc on the outside of a case. My truck is a bit rough (hey it’s ten years old) but this magnet held. In the vertical position no issues. In horizontal it wanted to sag a bit to the side that my car charger was plugged in to. Not a big deal.
I also tried this with a thicker case (puregear) but it did not hold as firm in my car. The problem is that with cases with a high gloss finish, unless the magnet is on the outside, the surface becomes too slippery. Again, the TPU case solves this issue and at home or work, when I want to use wireless charging, I just pop off the TPU case.
This replaces an older bracketron cup holder gooseneck generic stand which works great, but I wanted my cup holder back.
Pictures of it mounted in my vehicle to follow.

Absolutely love this mount, very similar to the older brother with the base. I mounted this unto my girlfriend’s SUV because she has a really weird dash which causes having a large car mount difficult to have. Does not bounce or move a lot when having a phone mounted on it, mounting is very easy, and look minimalistic and clean. This is a must have for any vehicles with an awkward dash or simply want a clean and low profile. Here are my thoughts;
Pros:
-Low profile
-Comes with many metal plates (rectangle with adhesive, rectangle without, and circle with adhesive)
-Strong hold with phone
-Does not bounce or move when driving
-Built quality is very sturdy and well built
Cons:
None :)
Conclusion:
I really love magnetic car mounts, they are a must have for anyone with a car and needing a mount. This or the older brother are two great mounts which works really really well and very affordable.

Gret value for a car mount,
I have a Motorola X Pure Edition, which is a fairly large/heavy phone with a curved back. I had OEM car docks for all my prior Motorola phones, and I have grown dependent on having a quick, one-handed car mount. However, Motorola does not make an OEM mount for this phone at the moment.
I started out with the iOttie Easy One Touch 2. It worked okay, but it never really felt comfortable to use. The phone sat too low and the mount arms would press the volume down button. I modified the mount but was not happy with the results. Next I moved on to the Urban Gear Mobile Mount. It uses spring tension to hold the phone. It worked well for my smaller phone, but it was always a minor struggle to get the massive Moto X PE into the mount. It was time to try something else.
I had looked at magnet mounts, but was afraid of the effects of magnetism on the phone and did not like the idea of sticking a metal plate onto the back of the phone. Eventually I figured I would give it a try, so I ordered the Akcord model and the WizGear Model together. They were both inexpensive compared to the prior mounts I had used.
Overall, I really like them both, and wish I had tried a magnetic mount before spending the money on the iOttie or Urban Gear mounts.
With the magnet mounts, it is very easy to place the phone on the holder, remove the phone, and plug/unplug it with one hand. It requires no thought or dexterity. The phone is held very securely. Despite its size and weight, the phone does not slide, vibrate, or have any other unwanted movement when driving. It would jiggle like a bowl of Jello in the iOttie holder.
I should also mention that all these particular mounts utilize a 17mm ball attachment. The 17mm ball was used widely by Garmin for their GPS units, and over time the 17mm ball has become somewhat of a standard with car mounts. I dislike suction cups, so both my cars already have 17mm ball attachments attached to the dashboard from my previous mounts. The WizGear magnetic mount comes with an adhesive ball mount, and the Akcord mount has the ball attached to it’s suction cup. I only used the magnetic heads from these mounts, setting aside both the suction cup of the Akcord and adhesive base of the WizGear.
The magnets on the Akcord mount appear to be quite a bit stronger than the WizGear, although both mounts hold the heavy phone quite well.
The WizGear unit came with three plates (adhesive rectangle, non-adhesive rectangle, and adhesive circle). These plates are extremely thin and painted shiny black. There is no logo. Despite being very thin, the WizGear plates were very rigid but had a springy-ness that made them almost impossible to re-shape. The Akcord unit comes with an adhesive rectangle, a non-adhesive rectangle, and a silicone-backed circle. The Akcord plates are easily malleable, come in a matte textured black, and have a moderately large Akcord logo.
I started with the circular WizGear plate. It worked fine, but I thought the shiny black circle looked out of place on the back of my phone. I pried it off with no damage. Next I tried the Akcord silicone-backed circle. It also worked well, but it was significantly thicker than all the other options. My phone is thick enough, so I pried this off as well.
The Akcord silicone plate was harder to pull off than the adhesive WizGear plate I had removed earlier. Neither plate left any residue or damage once removed.
I eventually put the adhesive rectangle from Akcord on my phone because its matte texture looks a lot better on my phone and it was easy to re-shape to fit the curvature of my phone’s back. Of course, the logo is there, but it is not offensive.
Overall Verdict – Magnet mounts are a nice way to go, and the magnet has not caused any discernible effect on my phone. I really like both magnetic mounts but the Akcord model has a stronger magnet and plates that suit my purposes better than the WizGear. I tend to like the general attachment method of the WizGear (adhesive ball mount) better than the suction type of the Akcord, although I did not specifically test the stock attachment points of either mount.
