Feels like a stiff durable shoe lace and it can handle 2.1amps = 2x charging speed!!,
In order to get faster charging times, you also need the lightning cables that can support 2.1 amps. Only OEM Apple lightning cables and MiFi certified cables (if it’s rated for iPad charging) can provide the full 2.1amp charging speeds. I tested this braided 6ft Anker cable with my Macbook Pro USB 3.0 port. My iPhone charged from 15% to 80% within roughly 30-35 minutes. And don’t forget, batteries charge very slowly after hitting 80%, because of trickle charging technology within the phone (to preserve life of the battery). The last 20% usually takes the same amount of time charging to the first 80%. So I can confirm the Anker Braided cable can carry the higher amps.
The braided part is interesting. The cord feels like a less flexible thick shoe lace. It feel very durable. Usually my cables start fraying out where the lightning connector and cord meet. The constant bending will eventually expose wires or tear it apart with other cheap lightning cords and even the Apple OEM. Anker reinforced this part with an additional gray plastic piece.
I can see this cord being useful for people who yank their cords a lot or if the cords get bent/crinked/trapped in sharp tight corners/areas. If you have a propensity to completely destroy and mangle your usb cables… this nylon one is definitely for you. For everyone else, you can save your money and buy the regular lightning cord Anker makes.
See attached pictures. OEM Apple white usb cable that came with my iPad vs Gold Anker Braided cable. The higher 1.3 amp is connected to Macbook USB 3.0 and the other one is connected to the USB block that came with my iPhone 6 Plus.

I don’t feel like I have to baby it or will need a …,
My only complaints:
1. My 3ft one will go in but not work if I put it in my phone upside down, and even then I sometimes have to plug it in a few times before the charging connection will take. No such problems with the 6ft, so I might just have gotten a slightly flawed 3ft.
2. The nylon casing is far superior to the easily frayed and stained cover on Apple cords, but it gets fuzzy (see pic). This doesn’t impede its use or appear to shorten the life of the cord in any way, but it’s kind of ugly and annoying, so I’m tempted to paint it with clear nail polish or something to prevent the fuzz.
