   This item does NOT work at all. It worked for two days and then POOF! Now it has a prompt “This cable or accessory is not certified and may not work reliably with this iPhone” and it actually DECREASSES my battery!
   I am in the process of returning this item.

   Between having iPhones and iPads we need lightning cables in multiple places. We have them in our bedroom to charge our tablets at night. We have them in several computers. We have them in the kitchen, office and even in both of our cars. When you purchase a lightning cable you have to make sure that it is MFI certified so it will work with your IOS7 devices. You also have to make sure that it is made of high quality materials, like a large diameter of wire to carry the adequate current to charge your devices at the maximum rate.

   I also look at the strain reliefs on the cable to make sure that they are nicely designed as this is one of the things that makes the cable hold up under constant use. I also have several iPhone 5S units and I make sure that the cable easily fits into the charging port of the iPhone and case. I refuse to remove a phone from a case to charge or sync it. I do testing on every cable I review on how well they sync the devices with my computers and how does the charging rate compare to the original Apple lightning cable. I actually make measurements of the voltage and current passing through the wire.

   The cable is 40.5 inches long and it is certified to be compatible with Apple products. That means that it has an Apple chip in it that is recognized by your IOS7 devices as an acceptable cable for charging. The cable came in a sealed package so you will know that you are getting a new cable. When I connected my iPhone 5S and my Apple iPad Air to my computer they synced and charged perfectly. I charged an iPhone 5S using an OEM AC wall charger and the unit charged at 4.94 VDC at 0.8 amps. I then used the original Apple iPad Air charger and charged my iPad Air and this cable was charging at 5.03 VDC and at 1.9 Amps. I then used the original Apple lightning cable and it charged at 5.01 VDC and 2.13 Amps.

   This cable worked perfectly and it is made with high quality materials and the construction is good. It performed as well as the Apple cable, it is MFI certified and it sells for ½ of the price. I rated it at 5 stars.

   Not a bad cable. First of all it “LOOKS” like a genuine original Apple cable. Even has the words on the wire itself. I thought I would receive a cable with the yellow colored logo as pictured but it looks like an original. It does seem to be lighter (perhaps thinner wires within?) overall. When I plugged it into my iPad Mini, I thought it was fine, UNTIL i plugged the original genuine Apple cable in and watched the USB power meter numbers. It charges a bit slower than the original cable. Have yet to try the data yet. I was provided this cable for free in exchange for an unbiased and honest review.
